Mens Hoop Earrings: A Fashion Statement I Never Understood

Men nowadays have evolved – from the scruffy, no-nonsense who wears no accessories to the vain metrosexual and extremists who love body piercing. Even those in between decided to try to make a statement and have their ears pierced.
I remember the time when my friends and I were about to graduate from college. We went to the mall to hangout and while we were walking, we passed by a store selling silver jewelry. We taunted one of our guy friends to have his ear pierced (I had multiple ear piercings during that time which gives me the right to goad). We can see that he was contemplating whether to give it a shot or just endure our mockery if he didn’t go through it. After several minutes which seemed like hours, he decided to do it.
We were teasing him that he looked like he was about to pee in his pants while he was having his left ear pierced. He came out of the store grinning, showing off his new piercing. After a few months, he bought several pairs of studs which actually looked cool.
After a year, he confessed that he was gay. And as if to flaunt it, he was not wearing his usual studs, instead, he was wearing a hoop earring. From that day on, I never understood why some guys opt for mens hoop earrings rather than plain studs. Leave the hoops to the ladies.
